Add widget support - showing latest headlines
Add a widget support for showing the latest headlines/articles for a selected feed.
For best result widget support should come in selectable sizes, say [3x2, 3x3,3x4], [4x1,4x2,4x3,4x4].
The number of articles/headlines displayed varies with size of the feed.
Clicking a article/headline should show the description or optionally Display web page (Like 'Manage feed')
Optionally a small widget (1x1) would only show unread count (a number) of the selected feed.

Allow swiping to switch between articles
As well as the big arrows to switch between articles, allow swiping left and right to switch between them

stop noisy feeds drowning out quiet feeds
At the moment, feeds which get a lot of posts quickly push out articles from less busy feeds. This is because, when the number of articles in the reading list exceeds the maximum, the oldest ones are deleted regardless of which feed they come from.
If we could specify a maximum number of articles for individual feeds, the latest posts in every feed would always be available, no matter what the frequency of posts may be.

Adding Multitouch support
It would be great if you could add multitouch support for zooming in/out when reading an article

Download Alt Text for Images and display from the context menu
Sites like xkcd make use of alt text with the images. It would be very nice to be able to view this text within NR. an option in the context menu would work very well for this.

Quick button to see all Starred Articles
I'd like it if there was a menu option that just jumped me directly to the all recently starred articles page.
Sometimes, I just want to quickly see the articles I starred recently, either immediately after I open up the app or while browsing one of my feeds. On my Droid 2.0.1, there's a small lag between button presses, so a lot of time is wasted clicking on "my recently starred," then on "all articles." The size of the buttons (very thin, possibly due to the 854x480 resolution) also causes some misses, adding even more time before I get to… more

Create 'Share in Google Reader' intent
It would be good to have an intent exposed by NewsRob so that articles / URLs / Notes can be shared as a Google Reader article from anywhere in the Android EcoSystem, using the Google Reader 'Notes' functionality.
I envisage it'd work as a long-press on a URL which would pop up a dialog with fields for Title, Content/Excerpt, and URL (so one can be manually typed if necessary). Once the user clicks okay, a shared note with the URL etc would be created in reader.
It would be pretty cool if this could work for selected text and images… more

Turn off Newsrob Browser and use default browser
Could you add an option to disable the newsrob browser and just use the phone's default browser for links and header clicks? Right now, we have to long-press for this option, and I'd rather have it available immediately.

Move header database to SD card
Currently, the newsrob database is stored in internal flash, which is a scarce resource on most Android phones.
it consumes up to 3MiB of flash when there are a lot of unread articles, which is even larger than the apk file itself. It would be good to store the database in the same location as the article cache, so the user has the option of putting it either on the internal flash or SD card.

Sync only when plugged in
I've tried setting to sync only when on WiFi, but what I'm really trying to save is battery life and not bandwidth. Syncing when charging would work better since I could keep from killing the battery when travelling or missing syncs when I can't find WiFi.

nook support
According to the wiki page (http://nookdevs.com/NonNookApps) newsrob -almost- works out of the box on nook. Hopefully it can be made to work with a simple change.

Automatically fetch all pages of multi-page articles
Many sites split up articles into multiple pages. For example: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/4225/persuasive_games_puzzling_the_.php
I love NewsRob's support for downloading the full feed and html contents to be read offline, but when an article spans multiple pages, NewRob only gets the first page. I wish it could automatically download all of them.
I know this would be ambitious and difficult, so I'm not holding my breath. There's definitely precedent though. Here are some thoughts:
- Many sites' "printable" versions of articles include the full contents, across all pages. You could detect @media print CSS stylesheets, http://w3schools.com/css/css_mediatypes.asp , and request/re-render the page using that… more

Add page Down function to the volume button navigation
I often wind up reading long articles on the standing-room only Sardine can that is my commute bus.
I would love if we could use the volume buttons for single finger reading, much like the spacebar in the Google Reader website. Page down until the end of the article, then the next press would go to the next article.

SEARCH of articles
Add a search feature that looks into article titles and text.
Good examples:
When searching in Google Reader within a specific feed, it shows occurrences of the search phrase even within old articles that haven't been synced or read before.HTC's News app has an instant search (similar to the instant search of google.com) that looks through synced articles (only).
Suggestion:
A combination of the two would be great. Instant progressive search upon typing the search phrase and a thorough search of older articles that havent been synced upon hitting the enter key.49 votes
